We are a small but a dedicated team with over 40 years of experience between us. We work behind the scenes all year round to plan and deliver fantastic events and ensure you have a great time whichever event you join. As well as our core team we also work with a fantastic network of hand-picked local support staff as well to ensure you always have a skilled and enthusiastic team supporting you on all our events wherever you are in the UK.
Tom is responsible for ensuring you have a fantastic time with us. Tom will be your main point of contact throughout your experience. A passionate, enthusiastic outdoor enthusiast, event organiser and qualified Mountain Leader with years of experience in organising events for groups large and small. An experienced environmental practitioner before embarking on a career in the outdoors, Tom is always keen to bring a real environmental and social ethos into the business. Tom is based in the town of Kendal in Cumbria.
Tom has been lucky enough to have explored most of the UK’s mountainous areas and some fantastic parts of the world including South America, South Africa, the Alps, various parts of Europe and the Himalayas. He is a keen mountain biker and fell runner and has in recent years started competing in the odd mountain marathon (although will never win many speed prizes!). He has climbed all of the 214 Wainwrights in the Lake District, completed the GR20 in Corsica, the Tour Mont Blanc and has climbed a good number of Scottish Munros.
After spending 20 years in various finance roles in UK blue chip companies Richard finally decided to make the step out of finance and into the role of outdoor leader. This probably wasn’t a great surprise as most of his free time had been taken up exploring the mountainous areas of the UK as well as being involved in Scouting both as a Scout and Leader any time left over was spent either adventure racing or theatre lighting. His time overseas was spent in the mountains of Norway, the Alps (skiing or walking), Crete and the Sierra Nevada Mountains.
Since starting work as a Mountain Leader Richard has led expeditions to various countries in South America, Africa summiting Mount Kenya and Kilimanjaro, and Asia including summiting Mount Kinabalu and treks to Everest and Annapurna Base Camps. He has also led extensively throughout the UK and fervently believes that UK challenges can be just as demanding as any overseas trip, if you don’t believe it try the Welsh 3000s.
Tania has had a varied work history in the UK and abroad, from secondary school teacher to campsite warden. Not enough time was being spent outside, so she took the leap and retrained as a Mountain Leader and has not looked back since. She has a wealth of experience and transferable skills that are put to good use on the hill and organising events. She is a Mentor for the Mountain Training Association.
Tania loves exploring the mountainous regions of the UK trying to find the best routes off the beaten path. Adventures abroad have included Eastern European mountainous areas, Mount Elgon in Uganda, Japanese peaks and saying hello to a bear with a cub.
Tania believes that participating in outdoor activities helps us develop as individuals, makes us appreciate the natural environment and is crucial for a our mental health.
